Transferring files between a computer and an iOS device is not particularly easy when using iTunes. Simple tasks, like synchronizing a phone with local folders may end up with the program erasing files from the connected device. If you are looking for a simpler alternative, then you should look at iBrowse. It allows you to browse through all contents on your iOS device from a computer, without hindering you with any confusing options.

The software is absolutely free and it is available for Windows and Mac. It can be installed in just a few seconds, without any effort. It doesn't need too many resources, but you need to have QuickTime on your computer, otherwise the application won't function correctly.

Once installed and launched, iBrowse will display the contents of any iOS device, if it's connected to your computer of course. You can browse through your device's pictures, videos, music, contacts, messages and through many other contents, on an Explorer-like window. What's more, files can be transferred from your device to your computer or vice-versa, by simply clicking and dragging.

iBrowse provides support for all iOS devices. This includes all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models. All you have to do is connect one of these devices and the application will scan it automatically and list all its contents, without waiting for too much user input. Alternatively, you can browse through an iTunes backup, as if you had an iOS device connected.

Pros

The application makes it easier to browse through the contents of an iOS device. It also makes it much easier to transfer data between the device and a computer. Also, iBrowse is lightweight, easy to use and it is offered free of charge.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention. If you had enough with the complexity of iTunes, you can make your life significantly easier with iBrowse.
